I’m always very slow to start the horses back on grass in the spring. We begin with 15 minutes of hand grazing after a ride. After about a week the horses get an hour of turn out on grass in the afternoon. Then they’re up to 4 hours in the afternoons for almost 2 weeks and only after that do they get unlimited access. Even though our horses always have 24/7 hay in winter it’s nice to have fresh grass and large pastures where they can actually run and spread out a bit! It’s so great to have these signs of summer!
